SPELLCLIMB
DRAFT — not final legal text. This page is published only so our children's-privacy lawyer can review it in place. It is not in force, and bracketed decisions in the source draft are still open.
Teacher terms of use
“You” is the adult account holder (teacher or tutor). Pupils are climbers, never account holders.
- Your account. Keep your sign-in link/code and session private. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- Classes and climbers. You may create classes and climbers (gamertag + age band only) only for pupils you are entitled to enrol under the cleared route for your market and school. Never enter a child's real name, email, birthdate or photo. Class names and set names must not identify a child.
- Join cards and claim codes. Bulk join cards show gamertags, class codes and device tokens; parent claim codes are single-use and expire in 30 days. Handle printouts as credentials: hand them only to the right child/parent, never publish them, and re-issue (revoking the old code) if one is lost.
- What you can see. Summaries for your own classes only (level, steadiness, secure/due, tricky families). You must not attempt to view live typing, other classes, parent contact details, or raw data (no raw keystrokes are stored). Do not label any summary as a disability or diagnosis.
- Settings. Class settings (modes, competition, market spelling, sound, timers) flow to climbers, subject to school locks. Competition defaults to family/class only. Open competition for under-13s only with the required grown-up opt-in.
- Word lists you upload. Upload only lists you have the right to use. Do not upload names or inappropriate words. Screening may accept, hold or block words; held words need reviewer approval before play. Sets stay private unless a reviewer shares them.
- Parents, moves and leaving. Parent links, cross-school moves (parent confirmation where linked) and retention-gated erasure work as described in the school notice. Removing a climber from a class ends enrolment; it does not delete the climber. Use erasure requests for deletion.
- Fair use. No pay-to-win help, no rank manipulation, no scraping, no sharing accounts, no misuse of the review queue.
- Fees. Prices are not yet set. Built licences record seats and status only; there is no checkout yet.
- Ending. You may archive classes.
These terms sit alongside the school privacy notice and processing terms where a school agreement exists. If they conflict, the signed school agreement governs.
